The Wisconsin Environmental Education Board (WEEB) works with a variety of institutions across the state in order to reach its goal of "promoting environmental education in all segments of society."

This section of the WEEB website is designed to assist WEEB members, and others, as they strive to keep track of the many "players" in the state. A few of the institutions with a state-wide mission are listed here. The EE in Wisconsin website provides a comprehensive resource of the many Environmental Education "players" within the state.

The web site enables EE providers to post events, create an organization profile, promote teaching resources, grants, jobs, professional development opportunities and more. The search feature helps users locate resources and events by topic, location, or date. Schools with strong environmental education programs and Green and Healthy Schools successes are highlighted on the site. A monthly electronic newsletter distributes up-to-date information on the latest EE opportunities.

Green & Healthy Schools


Green & Healthy Schools LogoThe Wisconsin Green and Healthy Schools program aims to increase the students’ knowledge and awareness of Wisconsin's natural resources and the environmental, health, and safety concerns and challenges that face our schools, our communities, and our Earth. The program helps students develop the necessary skills and expertise to address these challenges, and to foster life-long attitudes, behaviors, and commitments in order to make informed decisions and to encourage students to become active participants in their communities. Furthermore, by completing the steps of the program, schools will discover ways that their individual school can provide a safe, clean, and green school that promotes a productive learning environment and in doing so will help to conserve and protect our valuable natural resources.

 

University of Wisconsin Extension


UW Extension LogoProvides a mechanism for Wisconsin citizens to access university resources and engage in lifelong learning, wherever they live and work. Programs include broadcast and media (Wisconsin Public Television and Radio), continuing education, cooperative extension and division of economic development. Specific environmental education related programs include 4H, Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program, Master Gardeners and Master Woodland Steward programs.

 

Wisconsin Association for Environmental
Education (WAEE)


WAEE LogoWAEE is a statewide non-profit professional association composed of people interested in learning about and helping others learn about environmental issues. Their goal is to promote responsible environmental action through education in the classroom and in the community. WAEE strives to be an organization that promotes EE in the state, that supports the EE work members are conducting, and provides resource information, as well as opportunities for professional growth, motivation and recognition.

 

Wisconsin Center for Environmental
Education (WCEE)


WCEE LogoThe WCEE works to improve environmental education in Wisconsin. This is done through the development, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of teacher and student K-12 EE programs. The WCEE houses several statewide programs and is able to accomplish its goals through strong partnerships with state agencies and other organizations. The Center was established by the Wisconsin legislature in 1990 and placed within the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

 

Wisconsin Department of Natural Rescources


Wisconsin DNR LogoThe Department of Natural Resources is dedicated to the preservation, protection, effective management, and maintenance of Wisconsin's natural resources. It is responsible for implementing the laws of the state and, where applicable, the laws of the federal government that protect and enhance the natural resources of our state. It is the one agency charged with full responsibility for coordinating the many disciplines and programs necessary to provide a clean environment and a full range of outdoor recreational opportunities for Wisconsin citizens and visitors.

 

Wisconsin Environmental Education Foundation (WEEF)


WEEF LogoThe WEEF secures private funding support for environmental education opportunities that promote environmental stewardship, economic vitality, and healthy communities. They work to improve the quality of life for all Wisconsin residents through investments in innovative environmental education programs that empower people of all ages with the knowledge necessary to make choices that lead to the long-term health of our environment, economy, and people. The Wisconsin Environmental Education Foundation was created in 2005 to provide financial support for the goals and mission of the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board.
